Overview
Many civil servants say that community engagement and inclusivity remain challenging, with outreach often limited to residents who are already active and well informed. We all know how hard it is to involve everyone covering people of all gender and backgrounds. Inclusion and equity is about constantly ensuring that diversity of knowledge, perspectives, information, and ideas are welcomed and being used.
This module focuses on how to mobilise your colleagues and the widest possible number of neighbours to create and operate an inclusive community energy project. Once you have mobilized your core group and structured your project, it is time to give every citizen and local stakeholder the possibility to join in your initiative. If you would like to ensure the process is fair and equitable, it is important to place a strong emphasis on equity from the very early stages of engagement.
